Happy Hump Day!
Today is World Allergy Day. World Allergy Day is observed globally to raise awareness about allergic diseases, their prevention, and management. Initiated by the World Allergy Organization (WAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO), it promotes education on how to identify environmental triggers and access timely medical treatment.
Millions of people globally suffer from chronic allergies, ranging from hay fever and eczema to life-threatening food allergies. Identifying exactly what causes an allergic reaction can significantly improve your daily quality of life.

We've been so focused on chasing the American Dream that we forgot the one thing that actually makes life worth living. A Harvard psychiatrist and director of the longest-running happiness study in history says the missing ingredient is simple but profound: if financial stability is all you've got "and you don't feel like you belong to a community, life is pretty grim." And the data backs him up — a Gallup poll found that only 49% of Americans now believe hard work leads to success, down from 76% in 2001, while loneliness continues to rise at every age.

Four states — California, Colorado, Kentucky, and New Jersey — are seeking a jaw-dropping $1.4 trillion in penalties from Meta ahead of an August trial in Oakland, accusing the company of deliberately engineering Facebook and Instagram to addict young users and then misleading the public about what it knew.
To put that number in perspective: it's nearly equal to Meta's entire market value of $1.5 trillion — meaning if states prevail, the financial consequences could be existential for the company.

SAMHSA just announced more than $281 million in grant funding across 15 programs targeting addiction, overdose, and mental illness — with the largest chunk, $68.2 million, going toward expanding medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder, followed by $55.7 million for school-based mental health programs and $40.6 million for trauma care for children and youth.
The funding also supports suicide prevention on college campuses, first responder training, and integrated physical and behavioral healthcare — a sign that the federal government is beginning to treat mental health as the whole-person, whole-community issue it truly is.

✏ Myth or Fact
MYTH: Mental health is the same as mental illness.
FACT: Mental health refers to one’s general state of psychological and emotional well-being. Much like physical health, it exists on a continuum from healthy to ill and can fluctuate based on many factors. Maintaining good mental health is an important aspect of one’s overall well-being.
A mental illness is a condition diagnosed by a qualified health-care professional. The diagnostic criteria often involve a combination of changes in emotions, moods, or behaviors associated with distress, and/or impaired daily functioning. Examples include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.
