Today is National Stress Awareness Day.
National Stress Awareness Day was established in 1998 by Carole Spiers, Chair of the International Stress Management Association (ISMA). The purpose of this day is to help people identify personal and external stress factors, break the stigma surrounding mental health, and practice healthy coping mechanisms.
Common ways to observe include practicing mindful breathing, taking physical breaks, reviewing workplace support systems and employee assistance programs (EAPs), and seeking support as needed.

MYTH: Mental health is not as important as physical health.
FACT: Mental health is just as important as physical health. Our mental health significantly impacts our ability to function. It can impact how we work, relate to our families, approach relationships and more. Untreated mental health problems can even lead to other physical problems, such as gastrointestinal issues, high blood pressure, heart disease, weaker immune system and more.
