Today is Forgive Mom and Dad Day!

Parents are only human and are prone to making mistakes. But let’s not forget that as children, we made a lot of mistakes too. Our parents forgave us plenty of times. Now, it is time we forgive them. Letting our parents know that we don’t hold them accountable for past mistakes will surely make their day!

A Utah jury has found Kouri Richins guilty of murdering her husband, Eric Richins, in a case that grabbed national attention for its shocking twists. Prosecutors said she poisoned him with fentanyl to gain access to money and escape mounting debt, while also maintaining the image of a grieving spouse.

The trial revealed a complex mix of financial stress, hidden struggles, and double lives, showing how unresolved pressures can spiral into devastating outcomes.

A new lawsuit is taking aim at how the city of Worcester handles 911 calls during mental health crises, arguing the system relies too heavily on police instead of trained clinicians. Advocacy groups say this approach can escalate situations, pointing to incidents where force was used during crises that needed care, not control.

The lawsuit claims the city receives around 35,000 mental health–related calls a year — about 25% of all 911 calls, yet doesn’t consistently send mental-health professionals as first responders.

📖 What’s The Meaning

A panic attack is a sudden episode of intense fear or discomfort that peaks within minutes, causing rapid heart rate, sweating, dizziness, and feelings of impending doom. Triggered by stress, trauma, or specific situations, these attacks typically last 5–20 minutes. While not physically dangerous, untreated, frequent attacks can lead to phobias, depression, and significant life disruption.

Panic attack treatment typically involves a combination of behavioral therapy and medications which are effective at reducing frequency and severity of attacks. Self-help strategies include deep breathing, grounding techniques, and lifestyle changes like limiting caffeine.

A major new review is challenging the hype around medical marijuana, finding “no evidence” that it effectively treats common mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, or PTSD. Researchers analyzed decades of clinical trials and found that not only were benefits unclear, but cannabis use could actually worsen symptoms or increase risks like psychosis and dependency.

Experts say the findings highlight a gap between how widely cannabis is used for mental health and the lack of strong scientific backing behind it.

😨 Fears and Phobias

Social phobia (social anxiety disorder) is the fear of social situations and can be quite debilitating. People with social phobia fear being watched or humiliated in front of others.

Social phobias typically develop during puberty and can last throughout life if not treated. The most common form of this phobia is a fear of public speaking.
