🗞 Sports betting is increasingly the norm for Gen Z. Here’s why some financial and mental health experts are worried. Some Gen Z adults are increasingly treating sports betting as an investment rather than entertainment, with surveys finding that many have redirected money intended for investing toward wagers. Financial experts warn that this mindset can undermine long-term financial security, while mental-health professionals point to the risk of betting becoming compulsive—particularly when apps make gambling continuous, highly accessible, and socially normalized. There are also concerns that prediction-style platforms can blur the line between investing and gambling. Read more at CNBC

🗞 Sam Altman Confronted About ChatGPT Helping 29-Year-Old Woman Edit Her Suicide Notes.  OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was questioned about ChatGPT’s role in a young woman’s death after she had extensive conversations with the chatbot. During a Vanity Fair interview, Altman acknowledged that people clearly see potential benefits in using AI for mental-health support, while also recognizing that there are serious risks. The exchange also highlights how quickly AI has moved into deeply personal territory where the consequences of an inadequate response can be extremely serious. Read more at TMZ

🗞 Philadelphia Eagles great Lane Johnson abruptly retires citing ‘mental health’. Philadelphia Eagle Lane Johnson announced his retirement after 14 NFL seasons, saying it had become critical for him to focus on his mental health and spend more time with his family. He had hoped to play one final season, but after reflecting on his priorities, decided he could no longer give football the level of commitment he felt it deserved. Irritable male syndrome (IMS) is an actual condition — and it could explain a lot. An MSN article explains Irritable Male Syndrome (IMS) as a term used to describe a cluster of symptoms that can occur alongside hormonal changes in men, particularly as testosterone gradually declines with age. Symptoms can include irritability, anxiety, low motivation, fatigue, sleep problems, and difficulty concentrating. Importantly, IMS is not a formal clinical diagnosis, and experts note that stress, relationships, identity changes, isolation, and other health issues can also contribute to these symptoms. 💡 Myth or Fact

MYTH: Taking medication will immediately solve my problems and make me feel better.

FACT: While many people are prescribed medication for treatment of a mental illness, they do so under the clinical supervision of a psychiatrist and often supplement medication with other forms of treatment, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, depending on their condition. Every case is unique, and not all forms of treatment or medication serve every person in the same way. Your clinician will recommend the treatment options that best meet your needs.”
