Luigi Mangione's attorneys will present a psychiatric defense at his state murder trial this fall, arguing he killed UnitedHealthcare's CEO while experiencing an "extreme emotional disturbance" — an affirmative defense available to New York defendants in which the accused admits to the conduct but argues they shouldn't be held fully criminally liable.

Legal experts and forensic psychologists say that this may genuinely be Mangione's strongest option given the overwhelming evidence against him, though his methodical planning and writings could complicate the strategy.

Are you considering Ozempic or Wegovy purely for the aesthetic? These GLP-1 drugs directly affect brain regions tied to emotion, reward, and memory, and experts warn they're a genuine double-edged sword. One study found a 40% reduction in alcohol intake, while other research links them to elevated risks of anxiety, depression, and even suicidal tendencies.

Most alarming, one clinic reported that a third of their patients are using GLP-1s without any clinical indication or medical supervision, describing heightened anxiety, depressive episodes, and even "prepsychotic symptoms" in the days after each injection — yet continuing to use it because fear of weight gain outweighs everything else.

Thousands of bottles of the antidepressant duloxetine — manufactured by Towa Pharmaceutical and distributed by Breckenridge Pharmaceutical — have been recalled after testing revealed levels of a potentially cancer-causing impurity called N-nitroso-duloxetine above the FDA's acceptable limits.

The FDA classified this as a Class II recall, meaning the risk of serious health consequences is considered remote, and people exposed at or below the acceptable daily limit aren't expected to have an increased cancer risk. Don't panic, but do check your bottle — and never stop taking a psychiatric medication without first talking to your doctor about safe next steps.

🌞 Summer Anxiety

University of Nebraska-Lincoln health experts note that big routine changes, like summer break, can lead to increased anxiety, especially for those who struggle with uncertainty — but sticking to consistent sleep schedules, staying connected with loved ones, limiting doomscrolling, and setting small daily goals can make a real difference.

Remember that even "good" changes like a break from routine can stir up anxiety, and that's completely normal.
