Today is National Nurses Day which marks the beginning of National Nurses’ Week (May 6 - 12). It’s a dedicated day to recognize the invaluable contributions, tireless commitment, and expertise nurses provide to healthcare and the community.

It was initiated by the American Nurses Association (ANA) in 1996, with President Reagan signing the first official proclamation for May 6 in 1982. The week concludes on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

After pleading guilty to reckless driving following a March DUI arrest, Britney Spears will serve 12 months of probation, complete a substance abuse program, and is now required to see a psychologist weekly and a psychiatrist twice a month. But as this in-depth piece reveals, this latest chapter is just one part of a much longer story — of a woman who spent 13 years under a controlling conservatorship and has been struggling to rediscover herself ever since.

A recent Lending Tree survey found that 27% of people have purposefully taken an item without scanning - up from 15% in 2023. According to psychologists, most self-checkout theft isn't premeditated — it's deeply emotional, driven by impulse, feelings of inequality, social media FOMO, and financial stress, with many people subconsciously feeling entitled to "balance the scales" against billionaires and rising prices.

And the ripple effects are real — locked-up products, more surveillance, and ironically, higher prices for everyone as stores pass their losses on to consumers. This is a good reminder that so much of our behavior — even the stuff we don't fully think through — is rooted in unprocessed feelings of loss, anger, and injustice.

🛍 Product Review: Amazon Bee

The Amazon Bee is an AI wearable that passively listens to your day and turns your conversations and passing thoughts into meaningful insights, reminders, and stress patterns — acting as an "external brain" so you don't have to carry it all yourself.

After wearing it for a month, one mom found it identified that her household hit peak chaos at 5 p.m., that her kids were negotiating nearly every request, and that she and her husband rarely got five uninterrupted minutes together. Could this be the ultimate mental health hack for busy parents?
